AUGUST HEALTH TIP - Insightful Nutrition - Body Types

RECEIVE A MONTHLY HEALTH TIP

As explained in the July Health Tip, The Body Type diet is based on hereditary factors, and emphasizes the dominance of a particular endocrine organ throughout a person’s development. The body type classifications are determined for each person by the dominant action of this specific endocrine organ. This endocrine organ is genetically the source of one’s strength and vitality.

Please join us over the course of July, August, September and October to learn about the Body Types, their supportive nutritional guidelines and exercises.<!--EndFragment-->

The Four Body TypesPituitary body types are the tallest of all body types, with large long bones, and a head that often seems too big for their body. Pituitary body types also have large hands with large palms and long tapered fingers, and are often very creative. The epitome of the pituitary body type character is Lurch from the old television series The Addams Family. Lurch has an exceptionally large forehead ridge over the eyes, enormous hands, and he is exceptionally tall with long extremities. Most basketball players and Amazon-type women are also pituitary body types.
Women with a pituitary body type are also physically larger below the waist. The pituitary gland is stimulated by prolactin in milk, so pituitary types
crave milk and dairy products, which can over stimulate and adversely effect pituitary gland function. This is especially evident today, when large amounts
of hormones are legally present in milk and dairy products. Pituitary types don’t metabolize simple carbohydrates very effectively. These would include the
sugars found in fruit and fruit juices, the lactose present in milk, and the refined sugar and sweeteners found in refined foods. It seems ironic, then, that they tend to crave these carbohydrates. Pituitary types function best on a high protein (including red meat), low carbohydrate diet, with little or no dairy products. For this type I usually recommend a high-protein breakfast, a moderate lunch, and a lighter dinner.

Pituitary women usually have symptoms of low estrogen and/or low progesterone.

THE PITUITARY DIET

Abundant amounts of the following: Ocean fresh seafood free-range poultry, tofu, raw nuts and seeds, fresh vegetables, water, and herbal teas, especially fenugreek.

Moderate amounts of the following: Organically raised red meat (beef, lamb, and organ meats), legumes, whole grains, fresh fruits, butter, and vegetable oils.

Avoidance of the following: All dairy products, sugar, coffee, black tea, fried foods, margarine, Crisco, refined carbohydrates, and fruit juices.

Note: Avoidance foods eaten occasionally will cause no real problem to the Pituitary type.

PITUITARY BODY TYPE WEIGHT GAIN PATTERN

1. Hypo, or sluggish, pituitary weight gain pattern is identified as an overall weight gain of baby-type fat from head
to toe, including the arms and hands.

2. Hyper, or elevated, pituitary weight gain pattern tends to concentrate from the waist down. If you are a P-type trying to lose weight, you should eliminate pituitary-stimulating foods, and avoid snacking between meals. Try to leave four or five hours between breakfast and lunch, and five or six hours between lunch and dinner.

The Pituitary Body Type: The emphasis for exercising the Pituitary body type is to improve whole body awareness. This is accomplished by avoiding repetitive exercises, such as running and calisthenics, and by integrating the following exercises:

  • Strength training 3x week

  • Freestyle movement and dance 2–3x week

  • Cross Crawl and cross-country skiing–type exercises to
    improve coordination 3x week

  • Tai Chi and Qigong exercises

  • Moderate cardiovascular exercise 1–2x week

  • Moderate yoga and active streatching to improve flexibility 1-2x week
